Read IPOB Official Message to Nigeria on Independence Day

The group in a statement signed by Powerful Emma said the 56th independence anniversary marked by Nigeria on Saturday, October 1, can only be described as an enslavement celebration.

“Normally, at least two weeks to the independence celebration, products with themed Nigerian colours(Green and White) floods the markets as companies, offices, clothes, flags, cars and other materials in various cities across the country are customized in the mood of the October 1 event,” the group said.

Emma said there was little or no sign of celebration in several cities across the South East on October 1.

“This latest development has prompted the indigenous people of Biafra IPOB to investigate some notable Companies and individuals that oversee the production and distribution of the customized products.

“The astonishing investigation by IPOB have laid credence to the notion that as older Nigeria as an inorganic entity turns up, the more the territorial integrity and structural cohesion of the country experiences devastating imbalances,” Emma said.

Emma further attributed the low celebration of the national day in these areas to the agitation for the restoration of Biafra by the people of the South East.

He said: “Nigeria independence does not exist, you cannot talk about independence of Nigeria when millions of people are enslaved and subjugated beyond their wish in this country as a result of the influence of the British government and some world leaders.”

“Independence day celebration where 120,000 universities in every year no employment for at least 5000 graduates in five years, the country released terrorist group and detained unarmed civilians who only ask for his or her freedom, a country where rich will become richer and the poor become poorer, a country where abuse of human right is order of the day.

“Our people should open their eyes, we can no longer celebrate slavery and failure. we ordered our people not to print or customize any material be it cap, clothes or anything in the name of the independence celebration.

“Biafrans we don’t need Nigeria and her fake independence, what we need is restoration of our new republic Biafra and the release of our leader prophet Nnamdi Kanu and others detained in different prisons and security cells across the country unconditionally.

The President Muhammadu Buhari on the morning of Saturday delivered a 50-point Independence Day speech.

The president said his administration has delivered in many areas including security.

Also speaking on recession, President Buhari said: “I believe that this recession will not last. Temporary problems should not blind or divert us from the corrective course this government has charted for our nation. We have identified the country’s salient problems and we are working hard at lasting solutions.”
