Safaricom Outs Special Data Bundle For SMEs

Kenyan telecoms company, Safaricom has announced the launch of a special data bundle for SMEs in the country, providing them cheap access to high speed Internet connectivity on its 4G network.

Called Easy50, the data bundle comes with 50GB of data, accessed via a wireless router or via smartphone as a hotspot, which allows up to 10 devices to connect.

The data bundle costs KSh6,000 (US$59) per month. If SMEs exhausts the bundle before the end of the month, they can still access the Internet at no extra cost, albeit at reduced speeds.

Any unused bundles will be rolled over to the next month upon buying another Easy50 data bundle.

“We live in a data-driven age, with the Internet now forming the backbone for many business operations,” said Rita Okuthe, Director, Safaricom Business.

She added, “Through this specialized product, we aim to transform how SMEs do business by enabling them to affordably stay online and easily share files or communicate with customers, suppliers and colleagues on the go.”

Safaricom launched Easy50 after its Ready Business Index, which launched back in June, found that 6 out of ten Kenyan businesses don’t have access to the Internet.

Easy50 comes in handy for SMEs that, for one reason or another, are not able to sign up to Fibre connectivity. Safaricom will roll out fibre optic network to towns across the country to provide reliable and affordable connectivity to SMEs.
